Prof. Dr. Turgut Uzel, a faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering at our Faculty of Engineering, has been granted a patent for his work titled “A Method for Calculating Plate Movements in Regions Surrounded by Faults” with application number 2023/001154.

This method, which will contribute to more accurate calculations of plate movements in earthquake-prone regions, is considered a significant innovation in the field of engineering.

Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Vice Rector of Istanbul Kültür University and IKU SÜRKAM Coordinator, has represented Türkiye as a Researcher/Author in the Global Food Systems and Sustainable Development Report.

The project, which will be carried out in three stages over a period of three years, is led by the Shiology Research Center of Renmin University of China and the World Shiology Forum.

On June 18, 2025, the Physical and Natural Sciences Advanced Research Center (IKU-SPECTRA), established at Istanbul Kültür University, held its first stakeholders meeting, following the planned activities of the European Union Horizon Europe Spectroscopy@IKU ERA-Chair Project.

The Directorate of Support Services provided fire training for cleaning and security personnel working on our campuses on April 19-20, 2025. After the training, a fire exercise was carried out at the outdoor parking lot.

Hosted by Istanbul Kültür University and organized in collaboration with Marmara Technopark, IDEA Incubation, Serhat Technopark, and CPA International, the "Sustainability Spark-25" competition — where innovative ideas focused on sustainability competed — was held on Wednesday, April 16, with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe.

The 1st Executive Committee Meeting of IKUANTS TEKMER, which operates within Istanbul Kültür University and was supported by KOSGEB on 15.09.2024, was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Organized by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), the play “Küçük Balkon” was staged at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 20:00. In the play written and directed by Can Kılcıoğlu, Vildan Atasever, Nazlı Senem Ünal and Deniz Karaoğlu received great appreciation from the audience with their performances.

In cooperation with IKUANTS TEKMER, IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), and CPA International Turkey, a seminar titled “TEKMER Incentives” was organized online on Monday, April 7, 2025. In the seminar, which addressed the support and incentive mechanisms provided to companies operating under TEKMER within the scope of Law No. 5746, detailed information was provided on the scope of government support contributing to the financial sustainability of R&D and innovation-oriented ventures, application processes, accounting implications, and the effective use of incentives.

The “Introduction of the Grant Support Program for University Student Clubs and Societies” event was organized by the IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) to encourage our associate and undergraduate students to apply for grant support programs for university students.
