As part of its ongoing information security initiatives, the Department of Information Systems and Technologies at Istanbul Kültür University has been awarded the “TS ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management System Certificate”.

EUROMED is coordinated by the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), which aim to reduce the carbon footprint of universities, promote practices such as energy efficiency, and enhance inter-university cooperation in the fight against climate change.

The platform, which seeks to foster joint action among higher education institutions in the Mediterranean region, prioritizes the development of science-based solutions to combat climate change, the promotion of interdisciplinary collaborations, and the education of environmentally aware students. In this context, Istanbul Kültür University has adopted the fundamental principles of the EUROMED platform and signed the Girona Manifesto.

Sustainability is Kültür!

The research project “Investigation of Preclinical Therapeutic Effects of Peptides Targeted to the NOTCH1 NRR Region in the Treatment of T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL) in In Vitro and In Vivo Models)”, led by Assist. Prof. Kübra Telli, a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, has been awarded 2.4 million TL in funding under TÜBİTAK-1001.

This year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism launched the Türkiye Culture Route Festival across 20 cities, with its 8th stop being Cappadocia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of Anatolia. The opening ceremony of the festival, which began on August 2 and will conclude on August 10, was hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ankara.

At the ceremony where Chinese culture was showcased through vibrant performances, guests enjoyed music, dance, and workshop activities by Chinese artists, as well as a Chinese Tea Ceremony, traditional Chinese dance and Whirling Dervish performances, and instrumental recitals featuring the Qanun and Guzheng.

The Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School also took part in this prestigious event with a special collection created in collaboration between the Program of Fashion Design and the Program of Opticianry, inspired by the theme “Essence”. Drawing from the rich cultural heritage of Anatolia, the collection featured unique beachwear designs paired with complementary eyewear, brought to life through diverse technical and thematic approaches.

The exhibition also included four new designs created exclusively for the Chinese Consulate. These garments were designed by Lecturers Neslihan Tokat Ozan and Merve Kahveci from the Department of Fashion Design along with students Ödül Derya Dikmen and Bükre Yazıcı, who studied in China under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The production process of the garments was supported by TRİSAD, while eyewear designs were created by Lecturer Neslihan Gezer from the Program of Opticianry.

The review article titled “The Relationship Between Bariatric Surgery and Problematic Eating Behaviour”, co-authored by Dr. Ezgi Özkan from the Department of Psychology and double major students Sena Bal and Tuğba Demirci from the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics & Psychology, has been published in the Journal of Medical Sciences.

Three articles written by Ceren Kaçar and Rabia Şivetoğlu, undergraduate students in the Department of Industrial Engineering, and Soulayma el Hallab and Abdul Baset Mohammad Saeid, graduate students in the Program of Engineering Management, have been published in the International Journal of Contemporary Social Sciences.
